A thousand years ago, she had known a girl who loved lemon cakes. No, that was not me, that was only Arya.

At the edge of the wolfswood, Bran turned in his basket for one last glimpse of the castle that had been his life. Wisps of smoke still rose into the grey sky, but no more than might have risen from Winterfell’s chimneys on a cold autumn afternoon. Soot stains marked some of the arrow loops, and here and there a crack or a missing merlon could be seen in the curtain wall, but it seemed little enough from this distance. Beyond, the tops of the keeps and towers still stood as they had for hundreds of years, and it was hard to tell that the castle had been sacked and burned at all. The stone is strong, Bran told himself, the roots of the trees go deep, and under the ground the Kings of Winter sit their thrones. So long as those remained, Winterfell remained. It was not dead, just broken. Like me, he thought. I’m not dead either.

If you ever catch yourself thinking that your fanfic premise is too stupid to actually write, remember: Thomas Harris, author of The Silence of the Lambs, recipient of multiple prestigious literary awards both American and international, and widely regarded as one of the finest suspense writers of his generation, once wrote a book about sexy teenage Hannibal Lecter killing Nazis with a katana.

The resulting film adaptation made eighty million dollars.

This is your standard for comparison. Now: is your idea really that stupid?

Never forget the time the Sixth Doctor, while dressed like a fish, attacked and got into a fight with his Fifth self in a department store because his Fifth was too reasonable.

Just.

Never forget.

Sorry. Both to those of you who’ve probably no interest in Swedish politics (but damn, I needed a place to vent) and as well as for the replies I owe. My battery died and now it’s late, I’m tired, and I need to collect my thoughts.

I’ll explain some things tomorrow, so uh, ask away if you’re curious about how anything went? I just don’t have the energy to coherently do that right now.

but very briefly more-or-less end results: we’re getting a change of government. Which is good. Nationalist fuckers gaining a lot of ground. Which is absolute shit. Feminist party didn’t make it into the parliament. Not unexpected but shit. No one actually knows what the new government’s gonna look like, because no one wants to get in bed with previously mentioned nationalist fuckers. So. To be continued???

It could be worse. It’s definitely something new. But it still feels like a defeat.

How. How did the racist nationalist fuckers go from entering the parliament 4 years ago to now being the third largest party. How? We’ve fucked up.

And such disgust and disbelief as their party leader spoke. The only thing lightening the mood was the most left party’s members literally giving them the finger

Sad and feeling sick rn. I had hoped we’d at least have FI as some kind of counterpoint, but no. Only a slight red majority too.

13%. It’ll be a long four years now.

Yeah. I expected them do about as well as they did, at best, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting. It’s not unexpected but it’s the result no one really wanted. Hopefully they’ll find some way to work around it. I want to believe that it might even do some good, in the long run, because a lot of people obviously aren’t happy with how the block politics work.

But god fucking damn it. It doesn’t feel good.

OK BUT THE SWEDISH DEMOCRATS (AKA THE RACIST NATIONALIST PARTY) HIRED THE PREMISES WHERE THEY’RE HOLDING THEIR ELECTION NIGHT WATCH UNDER FALSE PRETENSES AND THE LANDLORD WAS SO PISSED OFF WHEN THEY FOUND OUT THEY TURNED OFF THE ELECTRICITY

[loud whining noises]

sorry, this blog is no fun tonight. But then there’s another four years till next time.

It’s so frustrating. Some things are moving in the right direction. Well, imo. I certainly don’t want another four years with the current government. But it’s hard to be excited about that when other things are going so wrong.
